The Mattawa River is one of Canada's most historic
rivers. Stretching between the city of North Bay on Lake Nipissing and the Town
of Mattawa at the Ottawa River, it has seen several centuries of travel by
canoe. The Mattawa was the main fur trade route to the west, and also the route by which many of Canada's greatest explorers headed into the interior. No surprise that the Mattawa has been designated a Canadian Heritage River. This map shows the area in extraordinary detail, and includes the usual features of essential interest to paddlers and tourists alike. Youll find access points, campsites, portages, points of interest, roads, trails, and lots more, as well as text, inset maps and colour photos (both current and historic) decribing the route, human and natural history, local attractions, etc. The inset maps focus on the fur trade route across eastern Canada, and the details of popular Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park. The Adventure Map® is specifically designed for outdoor adventurers such as hikers, backpackers, and paddling enthusiasts who need an accurate, up-to-date, rugged map to get them into and safely back from the wilderness. The Adventure Map® is compact (most measure 18" x 24"/45 x 61cm or less), easy to read, and easy to fold. The maps are also waterproof, printed on specially-made, extra tough, waterproof plastic. |
