Career Handbook, 2nd Edition |
Produced by Human Resources Development Canada. Published by Canadian Government Publishing, 2003. Description: |
Note: After the release of
the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2006, Human Resources and
Skills Development Canada announced its intention to revise the Career
Handbook. However, after further examination, HRSDC decided that the 2006
NOC would not significantly affect the quality of the Handbook. Therefore, a
new edition of the Career Handbook has been delayed. HRSDC is
concentrating on a significant revision of the NOC for Census 2011, with both
structural and detailed descriptive changes. As this project progresses and
revisions are finalized, HRSDC intends to integrate these NOC changes into
their next edition of the Career Handbook. Career Handbook, the companion volume to the National Occupational Classification, is an invaluable resource for career counsellors, students and job seekers. Based on the NOC and Holland coding system, the Career Handbook follows the organization and content of the 2001 edition of the NOC's Occupational Descriptions and includes additional subgroups for many of the NOC unit groups. Nearly 900 occupations are profiled in the Career Handbook. These profiles describe the characteristics that are associated with an occupation, as well as the main attributes necessary to perform the work. Requirements are also expressed in terms of rating scales covering: aptitudes, interests, data/information, people and things (DPT), physical activities, environmental conditions and education/training. Two-volume print set, includes bilingual CD-ROM. The CD-ROM containing a PDF version of the binder contents is also available separately. This PDF file is not a database it is an electronic version of the printed copy. All purchases of software are final. More information can be found in our Return Policy. |
